  Marcus Macklin is a brand marketing consultant that specializes in developing and implementing experiential 

  marketing campaigns, consumer promotions and event sponsorships. Marcus has worked with some of the

  country’s leading brands and sporting leagues helping them leverage local events to increase brand awareness

  and ignite trial within their target audience.

Secretary: Kathleen (KT) Taylor, Wallace Properties


KT joined the chamber in 2013 as part of her work with SEED (SouthEast Effective Development) on projects in the Rainier Valley.  As a commercial real estate broker with Wallace Properties, KT is passionate about building neighborhoods that include vibrant retail and a strong sense of community that embraces the diversity of its residents.   Membership with the chamber has cultivated valuable personal and business relationships for KT.  She is honored to give back by serving on the board and advocating for South Seattle.

KT was born and raised in Hawaii.  She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where she received a BA in International Affairs.   KT is an avid cyclist and veteran a member of Team Group Health, a competitive women’s bike racing team sponsored by Group Health Cooperative.  KT served on the board for TGH from 2009-2013.



Treasurer: Nathan Palmer

Nate Palmer has been a lifetime resident of South Seattle. He grew up in the Genesee area and currently lives in Seward Park. Nate is a 2007 graduate of Western Washington University and a 2014 MBA graduate of the University of Washington. He is the co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of a Seattle based fabrication and manufacturing company, specializing in the marine industry. In his spare time, Nate loves to run along beautiful Lake Washington Boulevard and Seward Park.

He also loves to frequent the Genesee dog park with his pup, Juno.  As the Treasury and Board Member of the Rainier Chamber of commerce Nate hopes to expand the Chamber’s presence throughout all of the neighborhoods that make up the South End.


At Large Members 



Sally Schultz, Sally Schultz Commercial Mortgage Broker

   Sally lives in West Seattle, but is clear that her neighborhood is Rainier Valley.  She has been on the
  Chamber board since 2001 and felt at home at her first lunch, an immediate sen
se of belonging that has
  only grown.

  Sally has arranged financing for commercial real estate since 1985.  Recently in the Valley--a rehab loan
  for The Arches Apartments and an expansion of the Shirley Marvin Extended Stay Hotel.  And the Ballard
  Power Station Artist Work/Live, Seven Star Women’s Kung Fu School and a new home in SODO for
  Emmanuel’s Rug.   She circulates 10% of her commissions to the neighborhood where she earns it.

  Second business is astrological consulting. Sally has been seeing many clients recently as  “the planets dish up
  the biggest change agent in our lifetimes.” 

 Free time is spent moving with Southside Booty Camp, yoga, golf, and mentoring girls of all ages.  And Travel.

Sally lives with her partner Katherine English, an Environmental Sculptor, at Bedrock in West Seattle.


Mark Temmel, Coldwell Banker Commercial Danforth


Mark Temmel is a Seattle native that has lived in the Rainier Valley since 2005. He currently is a board member of the Mount Baker Community Club and sits on the Finance and ZLUPT committees. Mark is passionate about the value of community and is dedicated to various organizations and activities. Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University. Professionally, he is a commercial real estate broker with Coldwell Banker. In his spare time he loves to cook, watch baseball and travel.



Curtis Brown, The Brighton Apartments



Darryl Cook, Wellspring Family Services

Darryl is a native of Seattle and grew up in the Mt. Baker community.  He attended O’Dea High and completed his undergraduate work in Business Administration at Tennessee State University.  Darryl currently lives in the Beacon Hill area.  Darryl is currently with Wellspring Family Services as the Senior Director of Community Services. 

Darryl has over 20 years of experience in public service at the State, Regional and Local level.  He is the former Supervisor of Planning, Program Development and Evaluation for the City of Seattle Human Services Department. His career as a public servant spanned two different administrations in the Washington State Governors Office from 1993 -1999.  Darryl also served 5 years working for the Metropolitan King County Council, as an Intergovernmental Relations Associate tracking and reviewing state legislation.


Roderick Givens, Rainier View Advisors  

Roderick Givens, CIMA®  Managing Member and Founder of RainierView Advisors, LLC providing comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory for individuals and businesses.  Roderick’s previous experience includes over 18 years investment analytics and wealth management business development for several of the world’s leading financial institutions . Currently member and board trustee for the Rainier Beach Community Club, Rainier Chamber of Commerce, Rainier Valley Community Development Fund, and Finance Committee of Rainier Beach Merchants Association. BA Degree - Eastern Washington University.  Certified Investment Management Analyst CIMA ® University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.

Susan Davis, Executive Director

Susan moved to Seattle in 1986 and three years later, she and her family settled in the Rainier Valley.  Her original intention was to come to Seattle for a one year study program and return to Washington, DC, but those plans were not realized when she fell in love with the area and her future husband.  Susan's professional passion is community organizing.  She has worked as an self employed interpreter, teacher, advocate, organization director or project manager, writer, fundraiser, event planner and all the other tasks required to make positive action successful. 

Susan has a deep personal interest in how people organize their cultures and what emerges when cultures intersect.  She appreciates challenges and learning and is able to visualize the big picture while not being afraid to roll up her sleeves to make things happen.  Susan has experience as a business owner and initiating new projects.

Working in my own neighborhood has been a great experience.  Learning how businesses function and partnering with public and private interests to improve economic development in our area has been a professional joy.  Everyday I get to work with interesting and smart people who care about the Rainier Valley.  I am very lucky, indeed!

 

 

 Past President: E.J. Gong, Windermere Real Estate, Mt. Baker


E.J. Gong is a real estate agent at Windermere Mt. Baker where he's helped people buy and sell homes in the South End for nearly a decade. From first-hand experience with clients, he knows that people who live in this wonderful part of Seattle want good schools, safe streets and jobs.

E.J. sees his involvement with the Rainier Chamber of Commerce as an honor because he deeply cares about South Seattle, and he recognizes that while the area is fantastic, there's still room to grow and improve. He seeks to carry on the Chamber's 91-year tradition of working hard to improve the lives of all Rainier Valley residents.

E.J. is married with two children.
